Celebrating National Nutrition Month is not just about healthy eating habits, water is also fundamental to having the ability to eat food that’s good for you. This is why we want to talk about charity: water and all of the amazing work they do to provide people with access to clean water.

How Water Changes Lives

In developing communities, gaining access to clean water gives communities the ability to grow more food and cook meals. The water projects that charity: water builds also allow people more time to do important things like attend school and bathe.

For many of us, clean water is something that we often take for granted, since we only have to turn on the tap in the kitchen to get safe drinking water. Eating food that’s good for you helps you maintain a healthy body and a healthy mind, and lacking access to clean water makes this very difficult.

Without the ability to access a clean water source, people are left with having to choose between the important things that will improve their physical and mental health. Having to decide whether you will use your water for bathing, gardening, or cooking makes people vulnerable to health risks. Not having the ability to spend time with friends or attend school can also take a toll on mental health, and water changes this in a tremendous way.

The Facts

785 million people don’t have access to a clean water source, according to the World Health Organization, and even more people are drinking contaminated water that leaves them exposed to a number of diseases. Water has the power to change lives, and charity: water has carried out its promise to donate 100% of its proceeds to building water projects across the globe.

Most of us are very lucky to have access to a clean water source, but many people are forced to walk for miles to get enough drinking water for the basic necessities. With clean water, children have more time to improve their education and to learn about the importance of nutrition -- it also allows communities to be better equipped to grow healthier foods.

Water and nutrition go hand in hand, so donate to charity water now to celebrate National Nutrition Month for all!
