Sustainable Summer: Clothing Essentials
As the weather heats up, you might be looking for clothing that is light and breathable. Choosing a brand that offers you these benefits--while also being sustainably made, earth friendly and ethical--is the best choice you can make for your summer wardrobe. Fast fashion is a major problem in the fashion industry--in fact, the fashion industry is the second largest polluter in the world. Despite offering low prices, the end result of fast fashion is cheaply-made products that promote the progressive destruction of our planet and the exploitation of our workers. Through supporting sustainable brands and foundations that advocate for transparent fashion supply chains, you can be the change that contributes to the shift toward slow fashion. Below are five brands that are putting in the work to ensure the smallest footprint in creating the clothes they bring to you.
Sustainable Summer: Makeup Essentials
Each week, we’re bringing you our Sustainable Summer Series to highlight the most ethical companies under the sun. This week, we’re focusing on the makeup brands that take the time to craft sustainable and safe makeup for both our skin and the planet. Although the cosmetic industry is progressively getting more ethical in its production and manufacturing, there are still many brands out there that still test on animals, are full of chemicals, are not ethically sourced and are not safe for the environment. Listed below are five brands that strive for sustainability every day in order to help you achieve your daily summer makeup look.
Sustainable Summer: Beach Essentials

We also want to make sure that you know some of the best brands out there that offer conscious and eco-friendly products that are perfect for a beach day. Opting to try these products will bring you one step closer to living your best sustainable life under the sun. Summer will be here sooner than you think!
5 Easy Upcycling Ideas
Earth month is all about sustainability, and upcycling is one way to repurpose items that would normally go into the trash. Habitat for Humanity describes upcycling as taking materials that aren’t being used anymore and upgrading them to give them a new function. Most upcycling projects only require objects that you already have at home, which helps you to reduce waste and save money! Once you’ve started finding uses for products you would normally throw away, you’ll find yourself noticing lots of ways to upcycle normal household items. Here are a few of our favorite easy upcycling projects.
Zero Waste Living
Maintaining a conscious lifestyle can seem like a real challenge at first, but it’s all about finding little things that you can do to make a big difference. So far this month we’ve covered sustainable packaging and eco-friendly swaps that help you consume in a mindful way. This week, we’d like to share some zero waste products that show just how easy it can be to adopt a conscious lifestyle! It’s important to be mindful of what you’re consuming and how it’s affecting the planet, so these are some easy ways you can get started.
5 Simple Sustainable Swaps
We’re celebrating the Earth all month long -- are you looking for ways to live more sustainably? While last week we mentioned brands that use sustainable packaging, this week we’re focusing on five of the simplest items to swap out for eco-friendly solutions. With a list of products that you would find in different areas of your house, you’re sure to find at least one item that you’re excited to try! And remember, investing in sustainable products means that we’re doing our best to use items that benefit our planet.
Our 5 Favorite Companies That Use Sustainable Packaging
We’re excited to celebrate Earth Month! There are many different ways to do so, some people choose to plant trees and others to pick up trash, but another great way is to monitor your packaging waste. If you realize you’re throwing out a lot of trash, recognize that it’s all going to a landfill where it’ll be buried underground and take a long time to decompose. In honor of our planet, we’re listing five companies that are champions in sustainable packaging. Our list includes a variety of products from hair care to clothing to tea, so you’re sure to find something you’d love to try.

5 Black-Owned Ethical Fashion Brands We Love
For this month’s series -- to show our support for Black History Month -- we’re focusing on black-owned businesses. Narrowing it down to include just five clothing brands for this week’s blog was very tricky, but with that being said, we found the best black-owned ethical fashion companies!
5 Black-Owned Food Brands We Love
As mentioned in last week’s post, this month -- to further support Black History Month -- we’re focusing on black-owned businesses. I won’t lie, finding a way to include only five brands for this week’s blog was very difficult (but I’m incredibly excited to share the brands I did land on). This week we’re focusing on black-owned food companies! You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Vote with your wallet.” This expresses how you have the power to uplift companies that share your values, simply through a small purchase. Purchasing items from black-owned entrepreneurs shows your support for these amazing companies. So, follow me while I guide you through five food brands we love!
5 Black-Owned Etsy Shops We Love
To further support Black History Month, we’ve decided to focus this month’s series on black-owned businesses. Get excited, because I have a great list of five black-owned Etsy shops you should try! Purchasing items on Etsy is arguably a more ethical option compared to alternatives because you know who’s making the product and you can assume that the majority of their profit goes in their pockets.
Our Favorite Good Causes: Fashion Revolution
Wondering what it means to embrace a conscious lifestyle? Simply put, it means aiding in making the world a better place. This includes supporting charities that aim to make both environmental and social strides. This month we’ve featured four charities so far: Hope Vibes to help the homeless; The Humane Society to help the animals; 1% for the Planet to help the earth; and charity: water to help those without access to clean water.
Our Favorite Good Causes: Hope Vibes, Inc.
One of our most pressing humanitarian issues today is poverty. There are nearly 150 Million homeless people world wide, with 9% of the entire world's population living on less than $1.90 a day. In the United States alone over 550,000 people are homeless on any given night.
Our Favorite Good Causes: The Humane Society
Your journey to a sustainable lifestyle includes many components, with a focus on supporting a healthy environment. One of those factors is advocating for a world that is aware of environmental and social issues. A great way to promote global goodness is to encourage donating to charities since charities focus on social concerns and humanitarianism. This week is the third of this series where I describe my favorite charities -- The Humane Society of the United States. This charity does an amazing job advocating for animals and animal rights.
Our Favorite Good Causes: 1% for the Planet
If you’re looking to embrace a lifestyle of sustainability, it is vital to focus on environmental and social consciousness. Supporting charities is a great way to promote planetary prosperity. My favorite charities are ones that take on social issues and find ways to positively impact them. Last week, I told you about The Good Camp’s fundraiser for charity: water and this week, we’re focusing on 1% for the Planet, a charity focused on helping to find and fund answers to environmental issues.
