We’re excited to celebrate Earth Month! There are many different ways to do so, some people choose to plant trees and others to pick up trash, but another great way is to monitor your packaging waste. If you realize you’re throwing out a lot of trash, recognize that it’s all going to a landfill where it’ll be buried underground and take a long time to decompose. In honor of our planet, we’re listing five companies that are champions in sustainable packaging. Our list includes a variety of products from hair care to clothing to tea, so you’re sure to find something you’d love to try.

1. Plaine Products | Refillable Hair, Skin and Body Care Bottles

Plaine Products is a company that focuses on reducing single-use plastics. This company offers an amazing refillable packaging system for hair care, body care and skin care products! You may be wondering what a refillable packaging system is — essentially when you’ve used up your bottle from Plaine Products, you can order a refill and send back your finished product. This process ensures less waste since the bottles get reused!

3. Tonlé | Clothing

What’s the most sustainable way to create new clothes? Tonlé selects its fabrics from a combination of deadstock, cut-waste and textiles that are high quality but were leftover from industrial production. Basically, this company utilizes fabric that’d otherwise get thrown out to create beautiful garments. Nearly everything is cut, sewn and screen-printed by hand. Because every item is handmade, each garment is unique and reflects the love and hard work that went into it. Tonlé offers all types of apparel and accessories from jumpsuits to outerwear. 4. Loving Earth | Chocolate

“Sustainability is and always has been one of the main principles of Loving Earth” — I couldn’t have put it any better. The packaging for Loving Earth’s chocolates is made from a 100% compostable film taken from renewable plant resources. And if you didn’t know, this means that the packaging can disintegrate into natural elements like soil. In addition to the wrapping, all of this company’s other packaging is sustainably thought out. Choose from flavors like Almond Crunch Chocolate, Cashew Mylk Chocolate and Caramel Chocolate.

5. Celestial Seasonings Teas | Tea

Did you know that Celestial Seasonings Teas uses sustainable packaging? The teabags are made out of natural fibers and don’t need a string, tag, staple or individual wrapper. Cutting down on extra packaging means that Celestial Seasonings is able to “cut down on 3.5 million pounds of waste from entering the landfills each year”. Even its outer box containers are made with 100% recycled paperboard and there’s been a reduction in the thickness of the plastic packaging that’s used. Beyond just packaging though, Celestial Seasonings offers tea like Lemon Lavender Lane, Black Cherry Berry and Chamomile, so there’s sure to be something to satisfy whatever you’re in the mood for.
